Founded in 2018, ParivarBayArea is the nation's first and only Hijra, Kinnar, and Global South transgender immigrant-led organization. Based in San Francisco, we provide culturally responsive leadership development, legal access, emergency support, advocacy, arts, and community for transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGNCI) immigrants and asylees. After eight years of serving more than 104,000 people and building a permanent cultural home, we are now at risk of closing. Parivar Bay Area is the USA's first & only Kinnar Hijrah led and empowering organization centering Indian South Asian and Global South transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGNCI) immigrants and asylees, particularly those culturally rooted gender-expansive identities since 2018. Based in San Francisco with global mindset, we are rooted in Indian heritage, Trans leadership, and immigrant justice, we advance social, economic, and legal equity through advocacy, arts, direct support, and leadership development.
